Effect of bagging on fruit quality of Newhall navel orange.

Newhall navel orange was tested under different types of paper bags to study the effect on its fruit quality.The results showed that bagging could improve the fruit exterior quality,increase Vc content,and reduce soluble solids and soluble total sugar content,and single fruit weight slightly compared with CK,and there were no significant difference in titrable acid content,juicing rate,solids/acid ratio and single fruit weight between different treatments and CK.The fruits by bagging with a plastic film were often burned by sunlight.The single layer of paper bag with outer yellow and inside black and double layers of paper bag with outer yellow and inside black can effectively improve fruit quality and commerciality and should be popularized in production of Newhall navel orange.
