Abstract

Abstract This chapter focuses on the evaluation of the potential benefits and harms that transgenic insects could bring to human health and the environment. The environmental risks associated with the introduction of large numbers of mass-reared insects and specific risks that may be associated with the process of genetic modification are due to the release of genetically engineered insects into the environment are also discussed.
