This article gives an overview of the development of the Charlotte, North Carolina, LYNX light rail transit system, which opened for service in November 2007. The clean, quick, and frequent LYNX service has proved to be an enticing option to Charlotte commuters with 18,600 daily riders, surpassing expectations.
