Abstract

This project by Petromin will connect the Saudi Arabian fields near Abqaiq with a new port at Yanbu on the Red Sea. Crude oil throughput capacity will be 1,850,000 bbl/day initially and later increased to 2,350,000 bbl/day, operating at 854 psi. The Yanbu onshore terminal will have eleven 1 million bbl storage tanks and two 250,000 bbl tanks for bunker fuel; the offshore terminal will have tanker berthing jetties for 50,000-275,000 dwt, 275,000-500,000 dwt, and for 120,000-275,000 dwt vessels. The terminal is being built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. The progress of the project and the pipeline route are described; the contractors, pipe specifications, and pumping station facilities are given.
