Research of universal home gateway architecture and its functions

Abstract
This paper proposes home network, which is extension of broad band network to home and an important composing part of NGN, and home gateway, which is the core of home network. The paper analyzes architecture of universal home gateway from hardware and software architecture. Functions of universal home gateway are analyzed and researched deeply from five sides, which include access function, interconnect function, transmission function, core function and service function.
