Abstract

The main objective of the Skills Development Project is to have in place appropriate facilities, equipments and materials in pilot institutions at reasonable cost as needed to deliver competence based training. Negative impacts include: water, soil, and air pollution, safety and waste management. Mitigation measures include: 1) earth movement and excavation activities will be done in small sections at a time so that at any given time minimal areas are excavated with loose soils; 2) earth movement and excavation activities will be done in small sections at a time so that at any given time minimal areas are excavated with loose soils; 3) sewerage facilities will be constructed to meet approved standards to ensure that they effectively contain sewage material without leakage or spillage; 4) the project will optimize the quantity of water used for different needs, and workers on the site should be issued with dust masks during dry and windy conditions; 5) where necessary, the rehabilitated area will be surrounded with a buffer screen of sheets and screen meshes to reduce the impact of noise from the project site; and 6) power generator should be in enclosed sound proofed room.
