Ceramic transactions: Porous materials. Volume 31

The science and technology of porous materials are progressing steadily and expanding in many new directions of application and processing methods. These expanding usages and capabilities, as well as reconsideration of old processes, demanded a forum that could provide an opportunity for interaction between scientists and engineers interested in porous materials. This volume contains selected and refereed papers on porous materials presented at the International Forum for Materials Engineering at Sanjo Tsubame (IFMEST) '92, held September 28-29, 1992 in Niigata, Japan. This forum brought scientists and engineers from all over the world and from a variety of disciplines together to focus on the application and processing of porous materials, with an emphasis on ceramics. The attendance of nearly 1,000 participants from eight countries is indicative of the active interest in this topic. The Central Niigata Prefecture Regional Industries Promotion Center provided an excellent location for the forum, which was the first one in Japan to focus on porous materials. This collection of high-quality papers presents the current developments in the area of porous materials, with an emphasis on ceramics, and will benefit those who could not attend the forum.
