Abstract

The effect of the satellite instability on the evolution of a finite-amplitude monochromatic wave is analyzed. A quasilinear equation is derived for the distribution function, and an equation is derived to describe the behavior of the amplitude of the monochromatic wave during the satellite instability. The effect of noise on the evolution of the monochromatic wave is analyzed for the case with a stable distribution function and also for the case with a ''blurred beam.''
