Abstract
The Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty is considered the cornerstone of European security. To verify the initial declarations of holdings, the obligatory reductions and the residual equipment levels, a system was established of regular periodic on-site inspections. The author examines the role of the treaty on European security.
