Abstract
Using the Tradescantia and Allium-assays, we analyzed the changes induced both on genes and chromosomes, evaluate the genetic damage of radiation pollutants, studied gene mutations in Tradescantia-SH. Both assays used are supposed to be the sensitive biomonitors of the genotoxicity of environmental factors. Our results demonstrate contaminated soils effects both on level of mutations and frequency of morphological abnormalities in Tradescantia. We also determined the characteristic feature of gamma-irradiation in high doses in Allium-assays.
