Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to study the performance of sugarcane varieties viz., Co 740, CoM 88121, Co 7527, Co 8014, Co 86032, Co 8371, Co 8011 and Co 8021 in the preseasonal planting for different dates of ratooning. viz., 15 t h November, 15 t h January and 15 t h March. The released sugarcane varieties CoM 88121, Co 740 and Co 86032 recorded significantly higher cane and sugar yield over Co 7527 and Co 8014. Cane yield was significantly less in March ratoons as compared to January and November ratoons. The interaction effect due to varieties and time of ratooning was found to be significant in respect of cane yield and number of milliable canes at harvest.
