肺癌切除後再発例の内, CEA上昇例をもとにそのCEA doubling timeと再発部位の関係を検討したところ, 平均値は局所再発で165.2日, 肺転移で86.7日, 肺以外の遠隔転移で57.7日, 癌性心嚢炎で48.6日であり, 局所再発と肺転移, 局所再発と遠隔転移, 局所再発と癌性心嚢炎の間で有意差を認めた. また, CEA doubling timeと生存期間の間には正の相関関係を認め, CEA doubling timeは予後推定にも有用と思われた.
