Abstract

This article discusses the advantages of installing roundabouts on streets in the United States. It first discusses design issues, followed by a look at the costs created by the installation of roundabouts. Some of the benefits derived from roundabouts include reduced crash rates, reduced costs in comparison to traffic lights, reduced injury rate, and reduced traffic delays. The article provides statistics from Florida to Alaska to support the installation of roundabouts instead of other traffic devices.
