Abstract
The public transportation industry's interest in Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems is visible in a growing number of cities that are considering, developing, or planning such systems. Many cities both here in North America as well as elsewhere have already adopted very effective BRT systems without using unproven or complicated technologies. The paper provides a comparison of the complicated, high-end BRT with the more practical approach, and illustrates with examples that the latter end of the continuum is where most cities are headed.
