Abstract

This article describes the Travel-Shenandoah project in Virginia. It is a public private partnership designed to provide advanced traveler information systems (ATIS) in a rural area. The system will provide travellers with six classes of information: travel alerts, traffic and travel conditions, traveller services, tourism, emergency services and route guidance.
