Road network asset management through integration and enhancements of existing systems

The paper describes successive implementation of Asset Management (AM) in the Swedish National Road Administration, responsible for 100 000 km of state roads. The paper is primarily written for practitioners. The researchers will find what knowledge is used or required in the practical implementation of AM. The AM concept and reasons for its implementation are discussed (“what and why”). Contents of an implementation strategy are outlined (“how to do it”).
