Abstract

This research was conducted to determine suitable rapeseed cultivars for Cukurova region. Field experiment was conducted at the East Mediterranean Agricultural Research Centre, Adana during 2007-2008 growing seasons. In the study, 6 rapeseed cultivars (Jura as spring types, and Oase, Bristol, Elvis, Californium and Licord as winter types) were evaluated for plant height, pod number per plant, seed number per pod and seed yield. According to average results, there were significant differences among the cultivars in terms of all mentioned components. The highest seed yield (269 kg/da) was obtained from cv. Jura, while lowest one (118 kg/da) was obtained from cv. Bristol. It was concluded that spring type cv. Jura reached earlier seed harvest maturity than that of winter varieties in the region
