Abstract

This thesis presents the results of an experimental study of the hypersonic turbulent boundary layer under cold wall conditions.Surface pressure and.heat transfer rate measurements were made on flat plates, compression corner models, and their axisymmetric equivalents.Important features include the similarity of results between the twodimensional and axisymmetric configurations, the confirmation of an increase in heat transfer rate in a separated region, and the difficulty of theoretically predicting the results of high Mach number, low wall temperature, flat plate tests.
