Abstract
An overview of various public transportation infrastructure project financing aspects is given in this article. In recent years, there has been a dramatic global increase in private sector involvement in public transportation facilities and services development and financing, ranging from new infrastructure full greenfeld development to existing operation management contracts. Due mainly to governmental budgetary constraint and governmental recognition of private sector capabilities in regard to project management and implementation, rapid growth is expected in privately financed infrastructure projects. In order to attract additional capital in order to relieve government budgets and borrowing, shelter infrastructure from excessive political involvement, control skills in private management, and achieve commercial discipline, there needs to be more research for private funding.
