Abstract
This report presents guidelines for use by the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation (SDHPT) in incorporating provisions for buses into the Department's street planning, design, and operation processes. The guidelines presented in this report were derived from a nationwide survey of transit/transportation agencies and address the following aspects of bus-related street improvements: 1) bus service planning; 2) bus facility design; and 3) bus service operations. The guidelines presented in this report should be useful to SDHPT and other state and local transportation agencies in developing a cooperative bus planning process in Texas (A).
