Abstract
The article deals with the analysis of existing literature approaches to the study of the demand for money, as well as the technique to study the demand for money in the Vietnamese economy. The main goal of the demand for money in the past decade has been to answer the question of whether the corresponding function stable. The existence of a stable money demand function in the economy of any country is an important prerequisite for an effective monetary policy. Therefore, the problem of demand for money in a large number of theoretical and empirical work. On the basis of summarizing the latest directions of theoretical and empirical studies of the demand for money of foreign and Russian scientists developed a method of econometric analysis of the demand for money. In this model, a classic money demand function is transformed into a function of demand for monetary aggregates M1 or M2. Modified demand function can be used by the central bank as a tool to predict the short-term and long-term demand for the monetary aggregates M1 and M2 and, consequently, to determine and control the structure of the money supply.
