Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine an experimental method which can be used in strengthening work on flexible pavements, to evaluate the desired thickness of asphalt mix overlays. Following points are examined: use of strengthening overlay; timing of the work; and, criteria for the method. The paper is divided into four parts: principles of the method; practical application of the method; examination of four points of special importance; and, possibilities evolved in the method.
