Abstract
Broccoli grown for seed in the Yuma Area is attacked by two species of aphids. These species are the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), and the cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (L.). Feeding and colonization by the cabbage aphid on floral plant parts can result in stunted and misshapen floral areas. The green peach aphid is the primary pest due to sheer numbers and associated plant stress. Control measures are limited due to effect on pollinating bees and difficulty in controlling the green peach aphid.
