Abstract
THE INFLUENCE OF THE PRESENCE OF LITHIUM OXIDE IN THE RAW MEAL ON THE PROPERTIES OF THE CLINKER AND CEMENT PRODUCED WAS INVESTIGATED. UP TO A CONTENT OF 0.1% LITHIUM OXIDE IN THE CLINKER THERE WAS NO APPRECIABLE EFFECT ON THE STRENGTH AND SOUNDNESS OF THE CEMENT. AT THE SAME TIME THE GRINDABILITY OF THE CLINKER WAS FOUND TO BE BETTER. LARGER AMOUNTS OF LITHIUM OXIDE CAUSED INADEQUATE COMBINING OF LIME IN THE CLINKER BURINING PROCESS, AND THIS RESULTED IN DETERIORATION OF THE SOUNDNESS AND A DECLINE IN THE STRENGTH OF THE CEMENT. /AUTHOR/
