Abstract

This report tries to solve some transport mode problems. At the end of the 1960's a special service was created for elderly and disabled persons. It became very soon an important business for the taxi industry. The number of single trips were during 1991 15,3 million and the number of persons were 440.000. This report describes taxi vehicles with door apertures and thresholds specially constructed for elderly and disabled persons with mobility difficulties. The experiencies and attitudes of the taxi drivers and their passengers to these vehicles are examined. The benefits are that taxi vehicles are passenger cars and that the passengers are not pointed out. The vehicles can also be used in common taxi traffic. (A)
