Abstract

At the birth of China's new poetry, narrative was thought highly of and encouraged. This trend was emphasized in the of the League of Left-wing Writers during the 1930s. Later, the narrative tendency became the most important trend in liberated area poetry during the 1940s. The poetical flavor of the social transition in 1949 attracted a number of youths to poetry: in fact, the upsurge in the number of young poets: was one of the wonders of the time. From 1950 into the 1970s, the majority of was poetry: either the subject matter or the perspective was politicized. However, there existed a more fixed model of poetry, termed the political lyric poetry form. In lyric poetry, the poet appears as the mouthpiece of a class expressing emotional responses to, or opinions on, important contemporary events or trends of thought in society.
