F r o m a survey of present literature a comparisonof two Recent Greenhouse atmospheric models of Venus is presented.measurements (Spinrad) [ 13 indicate that the amount of water vapor existing in the atmosphere i s sufficient to maintain the original Greenhouse model (Sagan) [ 21.by Sagan, m o r e consistent with recent observations, indicates m o r e extreme surface conditions than have been previously suspected.With surface temperatures a s high as 750" K and surface p r e s s u r e s of over 30 atmospheres, a surface landing p r e s e n t s complex engineering problems.The new model advocated .
