Abstract
The I-95 Corridor Coalition is comprised of 28 transportation agencies and state and local transportation departments and supported by a number of federal and quasi-public organizations. It has embarked upon an aggressive program to implement ITS services along a priority corridor from Maine to Virginia. A comprehensive multi-modal study, including focus groups, surveys and interviews, was initiated to assess advanced traveler information systems (ATIS) needs. As this report indicates, safety, security and traffic information ranked high in importance to users. This report is part of a study being conducted by Urban Engineers, Inc., with assistance from Virginia Tech's Center for Transportation Research, Eagleton Institute of Politics, Howard/Stein-Hudson and SmartRoute Systems.
