Abstract

PUBLIC TRANSPORT SHOULD BASICALLY BE KEPT OUTSIDE TRAFFIC CONGESTION. THIS CAN BE DONE BY ARRANGING SPECIAL BUS LANES. THERE IS A MARKED INCREASE IN THE USE OF SEPARATE LANES FOR BUSES. THIS ARTICLE SHOWS THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH A NUMBER OF EXAMPLES OF TRAFFIC LANE SEPARATION. A SURVEY OF USE OF BUS LANES FOR BUS TRANSPORTATION IN VARIOUS CITIES IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES IS PRESENTED. /AUTHOR/
