Results of the experiments conducted on the culture of tiger prawn, penaeus monodon, \nin Vyttila fish farm, cochin during the period 1981-83 are presented in the paper. Prawn \nproduction rates in these experiments ranged from 71 kg/ha/45 days to 615 kg/ha/3 months, with \nretrieval rates varying from 41.4 to 80.5%. Important ecological conditions of the culture ponds during \nthe experimental period are also mentioned in the paper. The main problems in the development of \ntiger prawn culture in this region and the probable solutions to these are discussed.
