Abstract

This paper covers current regulations concering stop signs and is based on the March 1990 Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. It reviews the present warrants and standards for stop signs and yield signs. Design standards are described. A step by step procedure for reviewing existing stop signs as well as those locations considered for installing new signs is desscribed.
