Abstract
THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES A SYSTEMATIC STUDY OF 240KM OF MAJOR BUS ROUTES CARRIED OUT FOR THE GREATER LONDON COUNCIL BY CONSULTING ENGINEERS. FOLLOWING AN INTRODUCTION ON THEIR DEVELOPMENT, THE CONDUCT OF THE STUDIES IS DISCUSSED, FROM AN INITIAL COARSE SCREENING PROCESS THROUGH A DETAILED STUDY OF SELECTED SECTIONS TOTALLING 80KM TO THE FINAL PRESENTATION OF BUS PRIORITY SCHEME FEASIBILITY REPORTS AND WORKING DRAWINGS. PROCESS FLOW CHARTS ARE PRESENTED AND THE STUDY RESULTS ARE GIVEN IN GENERAL TERMS. /AUTHOR/
