Abstract

The paper deals with some applications of wave analysis to hull form design for high-speed ships where wave resistance is very important. First the influence of systematic changes of hull forms on directly measured wave resistance is reviewed in comparison with the calculation by the linearized wave resistance theory, and then the results are utilized for the prediction of wave resistance of ships. Determination of ship dimensions and coefficient are then discussed in addition to the hull form improvement.
