Abstract

Blended cements are being produced to an increasing extent in the cement industry, and the use of finely ground additives, such as limestone is becoming increasingly important. Since limestone is available at all cement plants and often has no additional transportation costs or caused environmental problems, it has been suggested as a filler in cement, This study focused on the effects of limestone filler as also influenced by the type of clinker and the amount of cement replacement fro microstructure and cement performance. Since the effect of limestone on the hydration heat of cement is not fully understood, this study also provides information on the hydration heat of Portland limestone cement.
