REDUCTION OF HULL VIBRATION BY PROPER SELECTION OF PROPELLER TYPE AND STERN FORM

Hiroshi Okamoto

Open publisher page 1 citations

Abstract

In this paper, the characteristics of propellers as a source of vibration; special types of propellers such as ducted propellers and large skewed propellers used as a means to mitigate vibration; and the effects of modification shape of the stern including stern stream control fins, will be discussed. It is not intended to discuss hull vibration itself, but to deal with the specific aspects of the vibration force of a propeller as a factor in hull vibration.
