Abstract
This article takes a prospective look at traffic safety from the vantage point of the early 1970s. The role of the Motor Vehicle Act and Highway Safety Act of 1966 and of the individual in traffic safety efforts, measures of traffic achievements, and support for future research and training are discussed.
