Road engineering in roc

The road research resources and needs and the information resources and needs for taiwan are described. Road research activities are principally supported by government funding through the Ministry of Communications and the taiwan provincial government. Government and academic organisations carry out research into transportation, road safety and pavement and foundation problems; planning is currently in progress for a road research laboratory within the Taiwan Freeway Bureau. In academic organisations some $500,000 is spent on research. Most research organisations possess adequate US and japanese literature but information from elsewhere is considered inadequate. Technical conferences and symposia are conducted regularly at domestic and international levels. Road engineering research activities are certain to move forward in the next decade.
