What’s So Different about Biodiesel Fuel?

Daniel Ciolkosz

Open full text 4 citations

Abstract

Abstract Biodiesel is a liquid fuel created by the chemical processing and alteration of vegetable oil to make it perform similar to petroleum diesel fuel. Biodiesel fuel has recently received much interest as an alternative fuel source; however, many people remain uncertain about whether biodiesel is a reliable, safe fuel to use for diesel engines. This chapter outlines the major differences between biodiesel and petroleum diesel, including information about biodiesel additives and blends.
