Abstract
PREFACEThe research for the thesis was carried out in the Department of Physiology, University of Queensland, from I960 to 1963. The thesis is the sole work of the author and in it he describes his own work, except for the crystallization of P-lactoglobulin C, the sedimentation studies of the P-lactoglobulins, the peptide, mapping and amino acid analyses which were carried out in collaboration with Dr. H.A. McKenzie of the Department of Physical Biochemistry, Australian National University, Canberra. The sedimentation coefficient of sheep Ci!-lactalbumin was determined by Dr. M. Doherty of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Queensland. The sunino acid analyses and most of the tryptic peptide examinations were performed by Dr. D. Shaw of the Australian National University, Canberra. The findings of the thesis have not been published but most of them, have been presented at Meetings of the Australian Biochemical Society (1963, 196^) in the form of three papers which are listed at the end of the thesis.ments
