Abstract

Deregulation of the airline and motor carrier industries has resulted in the fear by some members of the public that transportation safety has been reduced. This chapter shows that, on the contrary, the opposite is the case. Empirical evidence reveals that transportation safety has not decreased since deregulation, but it has continued to increase.
