Curated by Tom Sowden as part of the practice-led AHRC funded research project ”Paper Models: investigating laser cutting technology to develop new artists’ books and paper-based creative practice for arts, crafts and design” and to coincide with a one-day symposium on the 15 September 2010, there will be an exhibition of laser cut artwork.Venues:13th - 24th September 2010 Bower Ashton Campus, University of the West of England. Exhibition will tour during 2010-11: 18-20 January 2011 AKI ArtEz Academy of Art, Enschede, Netherlands. 31 October - 11 November 2011 Northern Print 2011 International Print Biennale, School of Design at Northumbria University, Newcastle.Sowden has a conference paper on the project ‘Paper Models’ at the IMPACT 7 International Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking Conference at University of Melbourne 27-30 September 2011. Topic: Print and the influence of digital technologies and new media - paper title ‘Drawing with Fire: The Art of Laser Cutting Paper’.
