Abstract

An orthogonal surface-oriented coordinate system has been developed for three-dimensional flows where the computational domain normal to the surface is small. With this restriction the coordinate system requires orthogonality only at the body surface. This coordinate system has been utilized in boundary layer flows and for the hypersonic viscous shock-layer problem. Two methods have been developed for generating the surface coordinates. 9 figures.
