Abstract

Interest has been shown recently in focusing systems with a straight axis and two symmetry planes in which the fields have longitudinal components. They frequently have new, valuable properties. An experimental investigation was made of crossed lenses made up of flat electrodes with rectangular openings, rotated 90/sup 0/ in succession relative to one another. It was possible to obtain negative spherical aberration in one plane.
