Abstract
Based on the information gleaned from this project, the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) Bridge Division, in conjunction with the Material & Test Division, developed a High-Performance Concrete Strategic Plan for the future. With respect to deck concrete, the plan provides a transition from traditional concrete mix designs to a higher performing design, which should translate into more durable decks. The Sarpy County project has demonstrated that HPC can be mixed, transported, placed, finished and cured with relative ease. Nebraska is committed to using HPC in the future because of its potential to extend the life of bridges.
