Abstract
This paper describes the National Association of Australian State Road Authorities roads study commenced in late 1980 and completed in early 1984. It provides details of its objectives, organization and management and the procedures for the examination, assessment and evaluation of rural arterial roads, urban arterial roads and local roads. The results of the study are summarized.
