Abstract

The article discusses the required dimensions, the front structure of a fender must have to avoid the fender causing plastic deformations in the side of a ship. Diagrams for tankers and bulk carriers are presented from which the dimensions of the fender front can be determined when the fender force and the size of the ship is known.
