Abstract
London's north-south Thameslink has become a key part of the city's transportation infrastructure since it opened twenty-five years ago. A £6.5bn upgrade is transforming Thameslink, as the city continues to grow rapidly, in order to offer metro frequencies through the core section of the city, as well to expand the network across England to the southeast. This article details the transformation of this Network Rail project, phase by phase - on one of the busiest railways in Britain. It will employ European Train Control System (ETCS) and Automatic Train Operation (ATO).
