Abstract

Part 1 Collective labour law and human rights: the European convention on human rights and fundamental freedoms collective labour law and the human rights act 1998 other international standards relevant to collective labour law. Part 2 The legal regulation of trade unions: the role of the certification officer the definition and legal classification of trade unions common law regulation statutory rights of trade union members trade union elections - the statutory requirements political activities. Part 3 Trade unions and employers: the right to organize the right not to join a trade union - the closed shop contract compliance rights of individual trade union members. Part 4 Trade union recognition and collective bargaining: recognition of trade unions derecognition of trade unions protection against dismissal or other detriment for acts relating to the recognition procedure the human rights act 1998 and recognition collective bargaining and collective agreements the effect of a transfer of the undertaking on recognition and collective agreements. Part 5 Statutory rights of collective representation and consultation other than collective bargaining: the duty to consult on redundancies the duty to consult on a transfer of the undertaking health and safety occupational pensions training European works councils.
