Some Recent Developments in Computer Technology for Transportation of Elderly and Handicapped Persons

Abstract

Computer technology has recently become available to assist and improve transportation for elderly and handicapped persons. Legislation has been enacted to require human service agencies to coordinate their programs. The coordination involves not only support functions such as insurance, purchasing, and maintenance, bur also the basic provision of transportation services, where the majority of funds are expended. This paper will demonstrate how human service agency objectives can only be accomplished successfully and economically with the use of computers.
