Abstract

A recent study by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on car ownership and use points toward more increases in both auto ownership and total auto use among the 25 OECD countries. This article is based on the auto ownership portion of that report which was prepared by an international Expert Group. It discusses recent trends and current status of car ownership in OECD countries, factors affecting car ownership, and future trends in car ownership.
